What Car Are You Sick Of Seeing At The Car Show?

My dad and I went on a classic car cruise over the weekend and it got me thinking. What car are you just sick to death of seeing?

We weren’t at the Woodward Dream Cruise, by the way. This cruise was a smaller affair. My dad and I piled into his 1978 MGB and made our way down a park-like road called Hines Drive through southeast Michigan with a parade of other vehicles, all over 25 years old. You haven’t lived until you hear your 70-year-old father exclaim “No way is that over 25 years old!” at every ’90s Chevy truck you pass.

Classics parked haphazardly along the route, so we popped out of the MGB for a wander. And while we did see some cool stuff, like a 1951 Kaiser Deluxe with its SUV-like hatch and a totally out-of-pocket Nissan Fairlady, we saw a whole lot of the same cars I’ve seen my whole life. Row after row of brightly colored ’57 Bel Airs and black ’70s Camaro SSes. Over and over and over again.

Yes, this being Detroit, we’re gonna have a preponderance of Detroit things like fast cheap Camaros and big lumbering family vehicles of the bygone era, but damn. Couldn’t we get a little spicier with it? My own Dad, who worked in the auto industry, opted for a underpowered British roadster that is at least interesting if not reliable.

We only walked a few rows before we both shrugged off the copy-paste show cars. It’s not just classic shows, however. It’s a cliche that Cars & Coffee events are often ransacked by Ford Mustangs, and no where is that more true than in the heart and soul of Ford country. Not to mention the terrific amount of last-gen Chargers and Challengers. Our west coasters say they are tired of meetups full of Porsche 911s.

What about you? What car have you seen just about enough of?
