Suzuki Jimny XL Heritage Is A Nostalgic Special Edition

Suzuki expands the Heritage treatment to the five-door Jimny XL, following the success of the original from last year.
The special edition features retro-flavored decals and red mud flaps evoking the spirit of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s.
Production is limited to 500 units for Australia.

One year ago, Suzuki Australia announced 300 units of the Jimny Heritage special edition which sold out almost immediately. Now, the company applies the same treatment to the five-door Jimny XL, with similar stickers and a limited production of 500 units.

The goal of the special edition is to celebrate the “vibrant” history of the nameplate from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, which is why Suzuki calls the Jimny Heritage a “time machine”. The highlight is the retro-flavored red and orange decals on the profile and around the back, combined with the classic rhino emblem and red mud flaps.

Buyers can choose between White, Chiffon Ivory, Bluish Black Pearl, Jungle Green, or Granite Grey Metallic exterior shades. Suzuki also added a Jimny Heritage cargo tray, taking advantage of the larger boot of the long-wheelbase XL bodystyle.

The Heritage edition is mechanically identical to the standard Suzuki Jimny XL. This means it gets the naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine which is good for 101 hp (75 kW / 102 PS) and 96 lb-ft (130 Nm) of torque. While the Jimny offers the option of an automatic gearbox, the Heritage is exclusively available with the five-speed manual, sending power to all four wheels with the help of the AllGrip Pro 4WD system.

Standard equipment includes the 9-inch infotainment touchscreen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a reversing camera, and rear parking sensors. The ADAS package is limited to the basic AEB and lane departure warning, since only automatic Jimnys get the Adaptive Cruise Control.

The Suzuki Jimny XL Heritage is priced from AU$ 36,490 (US$ 24,242) before on-road costs. This means that the fancy livery and the limited availability status will cost you AU$ 1,500 (US$ 997) more compared to the standard Jimny XL.

With its three-door counterpart being sold out in just two days, Suzuki asks those interested in the five-door Jimny Heritage to act fast and fill out the form on its official website so they get a chance to own one of the 500 units.

While the Suzuki Jimny XL (five-door) debuted in early 2023, the three-door version has been around since 2018, meaning that a mid-lifecycle update is near. The popular off-roader is expected to receive a subtle facelift in 2024, with the introduction of electrified powertrain options, including an EV for European markets.
