Designed to remind people to ski responsibly and exercise slope etiquette, the crossover has been transformed into the ultimate cold weather ambulance. As part of this effort, the X-Trail’s wheels have been replaced by snow tracks.

That isn’t the only change as the model has been outfitted with a roof rack that features emergency lights, a siren, and an evacuation stretcher. It can also carry skis or snow shovels.

Elsewhere, the X-Trail has been equipped with extended fender flares and heavy duty recovery points. The model also has a winch, auxiliary lights, and 9 inches (23 cm) of additional clearance.

The upgrades continue inside as the crossover sports a Garmin GPS as well as communications equipment from Motorola. Bigger changes occur in back as the rear seats have been removed to allow for the installation of a stretcher. That being said, the crossover features a rear facing medic seat.

Last but not least, there’s a storage cabinet that houses emergency supplies such as avalanche probes and thermal blankets. We can also see a compartment that holds a DJI drone.

While the concept was created to promote responsible skiing, it also highlights the X-Trail’s e-4ORCE all-wheel drive system. Nissan says it can “react to changing levels of grip in 1/10,000th of a second,” which is “approximately 1000 times quicker than a traditional all-wheel drive system.” It can also adjust power distribution based on grip.
