Ineos Grenadier Commercial on sale now

You don’t need to look far to see how popular commercial vehicles have become of late. It’s also not hard to understand why when they’ve become as likeable and capable as trucks like the VW Amarok. With the BIK and VAT benefits still on top (who says a protest doesn’t work?), don’t expect the popularity to wane any time soon.

Now Ineos is joining the ranks, with the long-awaited – “Customers in the UK have been asking for this addition to our model line-up since we launched in 2022”, said Commercial Director George Ratcliffe – Grenadier Commercial. A two-seat variant, it now has 2,000 litres of space behind the seats, which is enough room for a Euro pallet on the flat floor. Just as importantly for those wanting to use the Grenadier for work, it has a braked towing capacity of 3,500kg and the ability to winch 5,500kg.

Despite modest tweaks from the standard car, it’ll be easy to identify a Commercial from a regular Grenadier. The rear windows have been replaced by aluminium panels, the rear doors are black glazed and, inside, rear chassis mounting points have been permanently disabled to to prevent any possibility of a second row of seats being added. Underneath, much is familiar, with the ladder frame chassis, solid beam axles and choice of BMW straight six engines. Ineos says the Grenadier combines ‘rugged British spirit and design with German engineering rigour’.

The Commercial replaces the two-seat Utility Wagon in the range, is on sale now, and is priced from £51,931 excluding VAT and on the road costs. Given a used Grenadier will still cost very nearly £50k anyway, it’s easy to see why the Commercial might appeal. Just don’t forget the speed limits for commercial vehicles…
