Ginetta Akula is a V8 supercar with a massive boot

British sports carmaker Ginetta has finally revealed the production version of the Akula. First showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the Ginetta Akula is a 2-seat coupe with a V8 engine in the front and a massive 473+ litre boot at the back.

‘Akula’ is Russian for shark, and we can see why they chose this name. The car has a prominent shark nose with integrated vents and multiple downforce-generating surfaces at the front.

Moving to the sides, the Akula gets massive extractor vents behind the front fenders, while the rear features a fixed wing and a massive diffuser. The car also gets exhausts that exit from the side.

Under the hood is a front-mid-mounted 6.4-liter V8 engine that delivers 600 hp and 494 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with either a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic or a 6-speed manual with a tiple-plate clutch. The Akula is built almost entirely from carbon fibre and as a result, it weighs just 1190 kg. Ginetta claims a 0-62 mph time of 2.9 seconds.

The Akula comes with Pirelli P Zero tires and steel brakes, however, carbon ceramics are offered as an option. You also get a carbon fibre racing steering wheel, 6-point racing harnesses, and even a full race suit.

The Ginetta Akula costs $361,130. Production will be limited to 20 units.
