Behold the Magno Green AMG A45 S Limited Edition

Go to spec a Mercedes-AMG A45 S and the choice of colours isn’t exactly inspiring. As standard you’ll get black. Or white – that’s it. Every other colour costs money, and that includes another black (£625), a silver, a grey (also £625), the £625 Spectral Blue metallic and the £825 Manufaktur Patagonia Red. Which, it should be said, is really nice. But yellow has gone, sadly, and the most expensive paint option is – you’ve guessed it – another grey. Manufaktur mountain grey magno, at £1,825.

To add a bit of colour to the A45, AMG has this, the Limited Edition. They say it’s ‘particularly striking’, and nobody’s going to refute that claim. It’s painted Green Hell Mango, that incredible colour launched with the AMG GT R all those years ago. Which would ensure impact on its own, though AMG has gone one step further with this A45 and added yellow accents to the seven twin spokes of the black 19-inch wheels. Which is bold, for sure – there’ll be no more complaints about a lack of colour on the hot hatch now. Those wheels are forged, too.

Like all the best special editions, this Limited comes crammed with pretty much every possible option, including both AMG Night Packages (lots of black accents) plus the Aerodynamics Package that includes the fixed rear wing. The interior mirrors the exterior, with more ‘45 S’ logos (now yellow on black upholstery rather than black and yellow on green paint), yellow contrast stitching and even yellow embroidery on the floor mats. You’ll never forget this isn’t a regular AMG A45, at least.

The mechanical package for the Limited Edition is unchanged, which makes sense because this is already a ludicrously fast and fearsomely capable AMG. Nobody needs more than 421hp in an A-Class, or more excitement than the variable four-wheel drive offers. Problem now is that however fast your getaway, the car is very identifiable – black ones can look like almost any other A-Class

The release for the Limited Edition suggests the new model will be offered for all of 2024; it’s been issued by the UK press office but with German contacts, so we’ll track down exact availability. Given the matt grey basically makes an A45 £65k already (adding £1,825 to £63,284), we’d start the estimates there. And if the green is a bit too much but you’re after some colour, this A45 is just plain old red and looks pretty good on it – it’s £45,995.
